IFSC (11 characters) is for domestic NEFT/RTGS/IMPS transfers inside India. SWIFT (8–11 characters) is for international transfers. International payments to India need the bank's SWIFT code plus the branch IFSC code.

NRE: tax-free interest and fully repatriable — use it for foreign income. NRO: for income earned in India, taxed locally, with limited repatriation. Most NRIs keep both accounts.
